The Summer School of Journalism and Sociocultural Studies is a two-week European media program designed for young journalists, bloggers, science popularizers, and researchers from around the world. Participation in the school is completely free. This program is created for those with less than three years of experience in the media field who aspire to professional growth and expand their networks. The 2024 School will take place from July 14 to 27 at the Erich Brost Institute of International Journalism (Dortmund, Germany). Candidates must be proficient in Russian and demonstrate an English language proficiency level of at least B2. This year’s program features the participation of German students from the Faculty of Journalism at the Dortmund Technical University. The working language for the first week of school is English, and for the second week, it is Russian.
To participate in the program, please fill out the application. The deadline for application submission is March 15, 2024 (23:59 CET).
The Journalism School has been held annually since 2018, with a maximum of 30 participants selected through a competitive process. Our partners have included the Faculty of Arts at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and the Ruhr University (Bochum, Germany).

Course Details
The curriculum of the school is developed annually, taking into account the interests of students and changing media landscape conditions. The majority of our sessions are interactive. Several pitching sessions take place throughout the school, during which participants present their media projects to editors. The school assists in the publication of the best materials on partner media platforms.

- Ethical dilemmas in journalism and ways to overcome them

- Investigative journalism: methods, sources of information, and circumventing sanctions

- The art of Reels
- The role of the Global South in the world
During the first week of school, all sessions will be conducted in English; during the second week, they will be in Russian. We expect participants to attend all sessions as per the schedule. Due to the program’s intensity, combining work and studies is impossible.
